Healthy Elephants – Sri Lanka

From the Field

  • We are purchasing a much-needed x-ray machine for injured elephants.
  • We provided a new prosthetic for Namal, the hind limb amputee.
  • We provided the ability to assess internal health of baby elephants and wildlife through laboratory blood tests.
  • Two veterinarians from the Department of Wildlife Conservation were sent to the Royal Veterinary College in England to continue their education in wildlife veterinary care and forensic veterinary medicine.

Our team will return in 2022 to continue the program and work towards building Sri Lanka’s first elephant hospital.
